COVID-19 Resources for Veterans
A salute to our Veterans on Veterans Day! Thank you for your service to our country, whether past or present. Whatever your stage of life or health, Veterans Affairs offers a wide variety of health care options to provide convenient access to care. Veterans can download VA’s Annie app to get text message reminders promoting self-care, sign up for VA Mobile to coordinate care with your provider or call your local VA Healthcare System to arrange Telehealth options offered to you from home a clinic or the hospital. Veterans who are eligible for health care from the VA are eligible for those same services via telehealth, which include virtual options for diagnosis, primary care, home health monitoring and chronic disease management, to name a few. Following are some links and phone numbers for VA Healthcare services provided in the Southwest Telehealth Resource Center region.
In mid-October President Trump signed S. 785, the ‘Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2019’. The bill includes a section on expanding telehealth capabilities and the provision of telehealth services to Veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs by awarding grants to organizations that represent or serve Veterans, nonprofit organizations, private businesses, and other interested parties
